The difference that actually matters
GenLook is a good product and says honest things in public - their own roundup of the Shopify try-on field discloses their bias and tells you to run the comparison yourself. We are copying that here.
The architectural difference is measurements. GenLook takes a photo and returns an image; the photo auto-deletes after seven days and nothing persists between products. That is a clean privacy story and a low-friction flow, and it is why GenLook can be fast and cheap.
It also caps what the image can say. Without measurements the render is not attached to a size - it is one picture of the garment on the shopper, the same picture whether they would buy the S or the XL. DressApp renders the size itself: pick M, see how the M drapes on your own model; pick L, see the difference, across multiple poses and from the back.
DressApp takes the same single photo, adds body measurements, and keeps the resulting model so it can be reused across your catalogue. That is one extra step on the first product and nothing at all on the second. It also unlocks the part GenLook does not document: a recommended size and a per-size fit description, plus a back view.
So the honest framing is not "better" - it is which question you are buying an answer to. "What does this look like on me?" is answered well and cheaply by GenLook. "Which size do I order?" is what drives most apparel returns, and it needs measurements to answer.

The things we would want to know if we were the one buying.
- DressApp's Shopify listing went live on May 29, 2026 and has no reviews yet. Antla and GenLook both have a public track record; DressApp does not. If social proof is what you are buying on, they win today.
- DressApp asks for body measurements on top of the photo. Like the others it needs only one photo, but the measurements step is still one more thing to ask of a first-time visitor - it is the price of being able to recommend a size.
- Fewer marketing-stack integrations than Antla.
- DressApp has no published first-party return-rate data from live merchants yet. Anyone quoting you a return-reduction number for any of these apps, including us, is quoting an industry study rather than your store.

Pick DressApp if
You sell apparel where size drives the returns, and you want the render tied to an actual size - the shopper picks M or L and sees how that size drapes on their own model, in multiple poses - rather than one generic render of the garment. The Pay Per Sale plan also means an unproven channel costs you nothing until it produces a sale.
Pick GenLook if
You want a free tier to test with before spending anything, you are not only on Shopify, or you need cheap flat-rate API generations for a custom build. GenLook is the more established product and says so honestly.
